We sing a wide variety genres to expose the children to wide repertories available to choirs.

Soprano

A high female (or boy’s) voice.

alto

A low female (or boy’s) voice.

tenor

A high (adult) male voice.

Bass

A low (adult) male voice.

We cannot listen to one voice above all others. We must listen to a choir of voices if we are to understand the individual tunes.

Eastern Cape Childrens choir For ages between
10-13 years

The Eastern Cape Children’s Choir was founded in 1982.  The ECCC consists of between 50 and 60 children between the ages of 10 and 13 years. The children represent schools mainly throughout the larger Nelson Mandela Metropolitan Municipality. However, choristers from surrounding towns are more than welcome to join as well.

We want to thank the schools in Port Elizabeth and surrounding areas for their continued support since 1982 – it is wonderful to have such a rich and varied source of choristers.

After many years under the directorship of Mr. Lionel van Zyl, Mrs. Marilise van Rooyen took over the position of choir director at the beginning of 2019.
