ECCC NEWSLETTER #201804
9 October 2018
Dear Parents and Choristers,
Please remember to also let your child read this newsletter.
So we have come to the last term and the last part of the choir’s calendar year. It has been a very exciting year and the friends made and concerts with choirs from the Czech Republic and Belgium were a definite highlight.
First of all I want to start by thanking everyone who has been assisting me during this year. It is really a pleasure to work alongside you all and a special thanks to Mr. Lionel van Zyl and Ms Amanda Engelbrecht for all their hard work and dedication. You are a blessing to our choir and we thank you. Others that I want to thank especially are Prof Albert Troskie, Lara Potgieter, Liske Hemmingway and Lucretia Sikwebu who joined us at our performances. Thank you so much for offering up your time, we appreciate it immensely.
A special thanks to Mr. Kennedy, the Headmaster of Cillié High School, as well as Mr. van der Riet, who assisted the choir every Wednesday and Friday as well as with all the other activities we had at the school.
Thank you to every parent for your commitment to your child and to the choir every week and especially for all the feedback and concerns brought to my attention. I aim to be of continued assistance this term.
IUVENTUS GAUDE – CZECH REPUBLIC
The visit from Iuventus Gaude Children’s Choir and their concert was one of the highlights of the third term. To be able to walk along and share our beautiful beaches with them was a privilege and honor. We tried to communicate, but fortunately where translation was lost in words, music made up for it in spades.
LEUVEN MEISJESKOOR - BELGIUM
We had such fun and laughter with our guests and the concert together with them and the Clarendon Park Primary School Senior choir was absolutely amazing. To all the parents who hosted our visitors, a big hug and a heartfelt thank you. They enjoyed every second they were here and we hope to host them again in the near future.
ST KATHERINE’S ANGLICAN CHURCH PERFORMANCE
We had such a warm welcome at this beautiful church situated in Uitenhage and the Choir enjoyed singing there immensely. We want to thank the Pastor and the congregation for their hospitality and for all the lovely refreshments afterwards. It was a beautiful Sunday and we will love to sing there again.
We attach hereto the updated choir calendar. Please note and diarize all the events. If there are any changes/updates, we will keep you abreast thereof via SMS. Last but not least, we will be performing at this wonderful event on the 6th of December 2018. It takes place at the Feather Market Centre at 13:00 and we will be saying goodbye to our beloved Mr. van Zyl. This will be the last time that the choir will perform under his baton and we trust that everyone will attend. This is going to be a wonderful last term and we hope that everybody will enjoy it thoroughly and not miss any performance. We want to thank every parent once again for being there with your child at all the activities and always being on time in dropping off and fetching them at rehearsals.
