ECCC Newsletter #201801

2 February 2018

Dear Parents and Choristers,

Please also let your child read this newsletter

I want to take this opportunity to welcome everyone to yet another year filled with beautiful music.

We have kicked off this year with a very productive workshop and it was fantastic to see how all the new members were welcomed into the choir and how easily they made friends from the start.

We want to thank each and every person who helped in organizing the workshop and a special thanks to Mr. van der Riet from Cillié High School for allowing us the use of their school for the workshop.

We welcome back Mr. van Zyl and Ms. Engelbrecht; we know this year will be another successful year filled with new and beautiful memories with our choir.

CHOIR CALENDAR (please click on the link at the end of the letter)

The choir calendar for the first term is included. Please study this carefully and ensure that choir engagements are noted in your diary. Please remember that changes to the calendar will take place as the year progresses.  We will keep you up to date of these via SMS and e-mail.

Please note that newsletters are addressed to parents AND choristers. Please make sure that your child also reads the letters and notes down choir commitments in their own diaries. ‘My mom did not tell me’ is not an acceptable excuse.

Be reminded that we rehearse EVERY Wednesday from 17h00 – 19h00 and EVERY Friday from 16h00 – 18h00 during school terms. ALL rehearsals are compulsory. Monica de Lange, Cell 061 3118717, or Johan van Schalkwyk, Cell 0837274829, should be informed of a child’s absence (preferably by SMS) before the rehearsal. Please note that you need to furnish a reason for the absence.

Rehearsals start punctually. Please ensure that your child is dropped off at least 15 minutes before commencement of rehearsal.

It is the duty of Johan and me to lock up the school after rehearsals.  That means that the front sliding school gate will be locked at 19h00 on Wednesday and 18h00 on Friday.  PLEASE ARRIVE 10 MINUTES BEFORE THE STIPULATED TIME TO COLLECT YOUR CHILD OR ELSE THEY MIGHT BASICALLY BE SITTING IN THE STREET.  Please do not abuse the goodwill of the parent on waiting duty and compromise your child’s safety by being late to collect them.

If you are going to be late, please have the courtesy to phone me (Monica) immediately so that we can make alternate arrangements if needed.

PARENT WAITING DUTY (please click on the link at the end of the letter)

Each parent will get a TURN to be on WAITING DUTY after choir rehearsal.  The list is attached to this e-mail to inform you when it will be your turn.  If you cannot attend to your turn, please make alternative arrangements with us or with one of the other parents.  Please do not disappoint by not attending to your waiting duty...

Please communicate via SMS / e-mail where possible. Program the following details onto your cell phone for easy reference.

Thank you to everyone who paid their clothing money on time.  Clothing will be given to children by end of March 2018.

Please ensure that ALL girls who have skirts have checked that it is still fitting properly.

Remember that first years do not have to order the black choir t-shirt, it is included in their fee.

It is an honour to wear the ECCC clothing and accessories and our choristers work hard to deserve it. Please do not give our branded items away to non-members. Rather return it to the choir where there is always someone in need.

We have a number of CD’s on hand and we urge you to buy one in order for your child to hear and experience the sound of the previous choirs.  These are available for R50 each from Rhona at rehearsals.  There are also a number of license disks and coasters on sale.  You can also buy them from Rhona.

Thank you to everyone who elected to take advantage of discounts offered for early fee payment. If you elected to pay monthly, your first payment was due by 31 December 2017.

You will receive an e-mail with your statement reflecting the status of your account up till now, by next week.  It is imperative that you have an e-mail address where we can send you your letters, etc.  Choristers do not always hand the letters/statements to parents.

Please note:

An account will be considered to be in default if a payment is more than 14 days overdue. Membership will be suspended immediately (members will not be allowed to attend rehearsals) and terminated if the matter is not corrected within three rehearsals. All fees paid to date will be forfeited. Please contact Johan van Schalkwyk immediately for alternate arrangements if you have a problem.

You can also pre-load your monthly payments via the postdated payment function on your Internet Banking.
