Our 11th International Concert tour started VERY smoothly, thanks to the super efficient staff at the PE Airport, but no tour can happen without its little adventures. Melané was given the wrong boarding pass (quickly fixed by the ground staff), but not before she had a vision or two of staying behind!
Of course we had to wish Lionel and Adriaan happy birthday, and with the way things have been happening up to now, I definitely believe that their birthday has brought the choir some luck!
Although our bags were checked all the way through to Munich, we still needed to get through customs at OR Tambo, and it took FOREVER, leaving precious little time for scouting through the duty free shops.
There is really very little to report about the international flight. The children were delighted with their personal TV screens and were soon absorbed into whatever it was that interested them. Some slept more than others, but hey, who knows when the next opportunity will knock at our door????
Amanda, Liske, Leon, Sino, Shannon and Kylie also travelled to Munich safety and we were so pleased to meet Markus again. Our travels to Zürich was through some beautiful countryside, with towering mountains near and far, blue skies and lots of sunshine. The near freezing temperatures of our morning soon gave way to much warmer weather and we could get rid of our red jackets. The Linderhof Palace is situated in an area with the most spectacular scenery. The gardens are huge and, apart from the very ornate palace, there was much reason to stretch our legs and explore.
After a quick McDonalds lunch we tackled the last stretch to Zürich and it did not take much encouragement to close the curtains and have a nap. We arrived in Zürich a bit later than anticipated, but were met by friendly and expectant hosts and by now most of us should have had a shower, supper and be FAST asleep.
Tomorrow the hosts will act as guides and we will all do a bit of sight-seeing of this beautiful city and its surroundings. Can't WAIT to hear all the stories!
No I too need to hit my pillow. Auf wieder sehen and gute nacht.
