Eastern Cape Children's Choir
The Eastern Cape Children’s Choir was founded in 1982. This year is our 35th anniversary and we plan to celebrate it with many performances at various venues! The ECCC consists of between 50 and 60 children of all races and cultures, between the ages of 10 and 15 years. The children represent schools throughout the larger Nelson Mandela Metropolitan Municipality and surrounding towns, including Addo, Jeffrey’s Bay and Patensie. We wish to thank the schools in Port Elizabeth and surrounding areas for their continued support during the 35 years - it is wonderful to have such a rich and varied source of choristers.
In October 2015 the ECCC returned from their 12th international concert tour. During the tour they were hosted in 6 cities accross Germany and The Czech Republic, participating in 8 formal concerrts, as well as a multitude of informal performances. The choir had the audiences on their feet at every concert and received many compliments regarding their professionalism, discipline and deep understanding of the complex music they were performing. We are currently starting to fundraise for our 13th international tour and we hope that we can take the current choir on the experience of a lifetime!
